With a love of history and ancient cultures / civilizations I named my Website Lunadoncella. Lunadoncella meaning Moon Maiden in Italian/Spanish was inspired by the 500-year old mummy of a 15-year-old girl known as "La Doncella" (the maiden) that has just been placed on display for the world to wonder at. Unearthed in 1999 from the 22,000-foot summit of Mount Llullaillaco, a volcano 300 miles west of the Chilean border. The children were sacrificed as part of a religious ritual, known as capacocha. They walked hundreds of miles to and from ceremonies in Cuzco and were then taken to the summit of Llullaillaco (yoo-yeye-YAH-co), given chicha (maize beer), and, once they were asleep, placed in underground niches, where they froze to death. Only beautiful, healthy, physically perfect children were sacrificed, and it was an honor to be chosen. According to Inca beliefs, the children did not die, but joined their ancestors and watched over their villages from the mountaintops like angels.

The world of dreams is a fascinating place. Philosophers have hypothesised that the waking world is all a dream, and dreams the reality. Even animals dream. Man has always known that some dreams are augurs of the future. There are rare occasions when a dream is a straightforward prediction of events to come.

Everything has a spirit and must be treated with respect. The Romany gypsies believe that everything has a spirit and must be treated with respect, even the stones on the ground. Everything can bring good or bad luck, depending on how it is treated. Most of the things on earth are willing to be a friend to man if only man would be a friend to them - none more so than the plants. They provide shelter, fuel, and food, oxygenate the air, and of course give us medicine for every condition. Many of our best-known remedies are plant-based, such as aspirin, which comes from salacylic acid found in willow bark. If all chemicals in plants were used, this would alleviate side effects dramatically.

Here is a rosebud pink and sweet. Here is an apple ready to eat. Here is a flower ready to open. Here is an apple, true love's token. Here is a rose seeking a thorn, here is a love yet to be born. Come hands, come teeth, come thorn.

Their fragrance provides a secret message about our mood and longing sent to people around us.
